Here is a slightly better question:
Why should any characters mere sexual preferences be a ruling factor in their overall character development?
Why should the audience be so immaturely obsessed with it?

After all and obviously...
Any sexuality can both be Pacifist OR a Mass Murderer.
Any sexuality can Both be a Tech Wiz OR a Medieval Farmer.
Any sexuality can Both be a D&D Rogue OR a D&D Knight.
Any sexuality can Both be Weak OR Powerful.
Any sexuality can Both be Ugly OR Pretty OR both at the same time!
Any sexuality can Both be GOOD AND EVIL, in equal measure, in very different ways.

I am in NOT any way against even representation.
But real representation should acknowledge that any characters sexuality is just a very small part of what makes anyone a full person.

When I go to choose clothes, music, or PC games my first thought is
"What do I like”
And
“What do I want"
NOT
"What should I like and want,”
“Because I happen to be a heterosexual male"
.
While ALL sexualities must be represented
.
We must also maintain that No One is JUST and ONLY their sexuality!

WHAT SHOULD QUEER REPRESENTATION EVEN LOOK LIKE?

My answer:
Like nothing significant at all.
It should just be a minor footnote.
NOT a label slapped on the characters forehead!

I know we are all still a long way off...

But we will know when we have really achieved some measure of LGBTQ equality,
When whom someone happens to want to fuck, shag or “make love to”,

In both fiction AND in day to day reality.
Becomes far less of such a big deal, to us all!
