.
Why I can be a bit "Spammy" at times...
.
I know: It is a common complaint;
But
A )
I don't really know or understand how the whole share thing really works,
- not really.
and
B )
- This is all I have.
It is my only option.
I have to put myself out there somehow.
I have not got adequate professional connections to just rest and hope things happen.
I do not have an art degree.
I have not done an art residency.
I have to be "a bit spammy" and market and push myself aggressively.
Or I will just fade into the background and be forgotten.
(Trying to leaver myself into the art world aggressively is also why I keep my prices so 'self harmingly' low. Because if I am without adequate connections my only other option is to embarrassingly undercut everyone else to piss some people off very slightly.)
.
- My back is to the wall
- The odds are stacked ridiculously high against me, (more so than for other artists,)
( = I would not bet my own fiver on me! - It would be a fools bet! - )
So, I have to 'go big or go home'.
.
- (Admittedly, this is partly self-inflicted because I am a bit unapologetically abrasive and won't bend a knee to others,)
.
I must be stubborn, tenacious and onery,
I have to attack the situation - while wearing a pleasant smile on my face.
Even any limited self-sufficient success (enough regular success to get off benefits) - Is less than a one-in-a-billion chance - But it is the only chance I have got.
So, I am going to throw myself in and take that chance.
However unlikely that chance may be.
<shrug>
What else am I going to do?
Just take benefits and wait to die of old age?
That is simply not who I am!
Figuratively Fighting back, and not accepting how things are, not "knowing or accepting my proper place", is such a core part of my nature - That it is not really a choice.
I just have to do it!
.
Besides,
What do I really have to lose?
.
.
So,
My tactics are as follows...
.
I am selling ORIGINAL ART! (and prints)
A2 sizes for only 35£
A3 for 20£
A4 for 10£
And A5 for 5£
(Inc, UK post - Sightly more for world postage)
.
And... ...Yes...
I am sometimes a "Bit Spammy"
