So much bitching about a main female lead character.

Saying stupid things about historical accuracy!

I did historical reenactment
.
(NO! NOT! The USA style renascence fairs!)

That was based on the history of the UK War of The Roses 1475 to 1500 ad.
.
At that time woman, had more rights in some ways, than they did in Victorian times!

The woman did play a role in history!

I am not saying that there should not be certain boundaries to keep to historical accuracy,

Such as finding it almost impossible to learn normal martial combat.

But there is a manuscript from much earlier than the period I re-enacted, from Medieval history that laid down the rules for trials by combat for woman vs men!
.
(I think it was called the Talhoffer's manual But I might have a memory error there!)
.
If you were attacking a farm tower on the Scottish English border at the time of the Border reivers, (14 - 16th C ish )
.
True you would not get a woman armoured up charging out to defend her home and cattle but you could expect her to fire arrows at you from the tower top of the fortified farmhouse!

Just because Theresa cannot historically be a kick arse lord of the rings style fantasy fighter without breaking accuracy,
.
That does not mean she cannot have deadly adventures and risk getting killed (or worse!)

(If you like, you can consider it a super duper hard mode!)

Yes, women were disenfranchised second class serfs at that time.

Obviously, they were,

No one is claiming that they were not.

It was the social norm.

Sexism as a word did not exist until 1965!
