Marvel has decided to have a Gay main character,

I am waiting for the usual bigot rants that are going to happen.

BOYCOTT!
Lets us assume that boycotting could have any effect,

What would that effect be?

If we assume that there is a 1% audience loss because of a Gay character
.
If we assume that there is a 1% audience loss because of a female lead character
.
If we assume that there is a 1% audience loss because of a non-white lead character
.
If we assume that there is a 1% audience loss because of people that might be too nervous to cross a protest line.

Then slap on an extra 1% loss just for general shits and giggles because of some other stupid bigoted reason,
For example, a practising Muslim superhero,
.
The total loss could be as much as 5%!
.
In the first weekend alone Marvel Avengers Endgame brought in 1.3 billion worldwide.

Each 1% Equals 12 million!
.
That would mean a potential earning loss of,
60,000,000
.

BAD EXAMPLE!

But this is an exceptionally hyped film, it is not really a fair example,

What if was not this main film but an “Other” Marvel film,

Ok let's take that 1.3 box office amount a randomly cut it b 50% and only got a mere

And because making films cost money to make, distribute and market let us half that again!

And assume a Net profit of only

60 million lost by boycotts of bigots refusing to see an inclusive film

BUT!
Deducted that from the profit of a hypothetical much smaller less successful film,

That is not including all the money from move ticket sales after the opening weekend,

That is not including all the money from future DVD and Blue Ray sales!
