Why?
Because with 2 kids, among other reasons, it was the morally correct thing to do.
This has left me forever trapped and 50 in “bedsit land”
I am not expecting gratitude, but I am getting tired of her blinkered blasé self-entitlement.
I did the right thing for the right reason, but I could have easily insisted on “Legal Fairness” and looked out for my own interest instead!
However, she can't seem to grasp that concept.

Now she is complaining about the various costs of the separation.

My Response:
"Please understand that it seems a bit inappropriate for you to expect any sympathy from me. - because compared to you I have lost pretty much everything.
Due to me "doing what is morally right" instead of seeking "legally defined fairness"
A choice that (although still morally right) has cost me far more than just mere money - but also a lifetime of loneliness.
As no woman in her right mind wants a 50-year-old man with zero future that can offer absolutely no financial security.
Basically, from a romantic standpoint, I am worth Nothing!

You are a smart person.
You must, on some intellectual level realize what the real cost for that ethical stance will be for me.

So please - have enough humanity, respect, and simple common sense not to expect any sympathy.

- I won't!"

The lesson here might be.
Don’t ever try to do the “right thing.”
But I would never listen to such a lesson.
That is simply not who I am!

I gave my ex-wife the whole house.
(In the suburbs semidetached 3 bedrooms with gardens.)
