This is assuming that the point of living is to be happy... rather than to sacrifice everything to do what is right.

I doubt most dedicated nurse's, honest cops (‘if’ they exist), honourable soldiers (‘if’ they exist), or brave firefighters are often happy...
But then again, that is not why they do the job.
