RE:
WRITERS BLOCK!
.
You do not need a “Writers Course”
You do not need any “Writer Guru”
These things are a Con Job!
You are ALL, Already good enough!
.
Your only real problem,
Is that you have become bored with what you are writing!
.
Here are some solutions to your so-called “Writers Block”
.
.
1)
Take that plan,
That creativity destroying ideology of having any pre-planned synopsis and for now, ignore it!
.
.
2)
While you are at it,
Ignore all the things you were taught at school about writing a story.
All the crap about the premise, de-construction and resolution!
Ignore all that ‘theory’ crap entirely!
.
.
.
3)
Get the story that you are stuck on and use one or more of these techniques.
.
A)
Segway.
Take a small café, bar, park bench or another spot in your current world setting.
And write 500 words about what is happing there.
It must have little or no direct relevance to your current running story BUT still, be set in the very same world and that present time!
DO NOT PLAN ANY OF IT!
Just improvise and you might be surprised what comes out.
.
B)
Minor Character Flashback
Take any named character in your book.
The more minor the better.
They only have to have been given a Name.
And write 500 words about what happened to them 5 or 10 years before current events.
DO NOT PLAN ANY OF IT!
Just improvise and you might be surprised what comes out.
.
C)
The Witness
Take a major event you have written in your book
And create a totally new character who witnessed that event
Give them a name,
And allow a situation to form in your mind where they are repeating what they saw.
Allow them (if that is how they are forming) to have seen things wrong or be polluted with personal bias.
Let them tell you how they felt and how it affected them!
But also allow them to withhold their real feelings and views from the person, they are telling their story to!
DO NOT PLAN ANY OF IT!
Just improvise and you might be surprised what comes out.
.
D)
Mix and match
Take all of (A) (B) (C) & (D) and see how many of these you can do all at once!
DO NOT PLAN ANY OF IT!
Just improvise and you might be surprised what comes out.
.
E)
Just do it!
NEVER LOOK AT AN EMPTY SCREEN OR PAGE!
DO NOT HESITATE!
DO NOT PAUSE FOR THOUGHT!
Just type or write
All your ransom thoughts, dreams notions,
All the random garbage.
Just simply keep your finger moving and allow yourself to fall into a daydream.
No matter what, just keep typing whatever randomly pops into your mind, as it immediately pops in there.
DO NOT CENSOR YOURSELF!
TRY NOT TO THINK!
.
.
4)
INSERT HERE!
While still ignoring your synopsis and any planning.
Attempt to insert what your mind has created into your existing book.
LET them merge, infect and alter each other.
It may take you on a totally different path.
You may feel a clash of loyalties between your ‘Precious Overly Planned Synopsis’ and this new scary story path.
.
My advice?
Choose the new scary story path!
Even if that means letting you synopsis burn alive, screaming in agony!
.
Because I reckon there is a 90% chance that you never had “Writers Block” to begin with,
.
I reckon there is a very good 90% chance that you just got bored and stopped having fun!
.
.
The only reason you should EVER be trepidacious about approaching your book is that you find the emotional experience far too intense to cope with.
.
It should NEVER be because you are bored or finding it a grind!
.
.
!
.
.
.
.
.
.
I am no way implying that this observation applies to the courses of the Dreame Academy in any way, shape, or form.
.
BUT
.
Certain 'other' writing groups pretend to love someone's work to sell the courses.
.
For such groups, the selling, of courses, is a vital “Cash Cow”!
.
If all your courses are totally free to all signed writers, then I unreservedly apologise.
.
“IF” however they cost ANY amount of money.
.
Then I would highly recommend instead (even if it cost more) for people to their local college and get an ‘A level’ or perhaps even a Degree instead!
.
But that is only my humble, meagre, opinion…

You do not have to do this forever,
Just until your so-called “Writers Block” goes.
You can always return to those conventional ways afterwards.
Just resort to my philosophy, as and when it is ever needed!
